Hey Kids and Teachers!
Recycle Rex here inviting YOU to take my "Recycle Challenge!" My friends at Keep California Beautiful, the Department of Resources, Recycling, and Recovery (CalRecycle), and I would like to challenge your class to see how many aluminum and plastic California Redemption Value (CRV) beverage containers you can collect and recycle!
Contest Rules
All California elementary school classes, kindergarten through 6th grade (public or private), are eligible to enter my recycle challenge! Remember, California students only!
Step 1: Register
Each class must register by December 31, 2012. To register, you must complete ALL the information on the registration form. You may click here to register online or print, complete, and mail the PDF version of the form to Recycle Rex Recycle Challenge, c/o Keep California Beautiful, 1822 21st St, Suite 400, Sacramento, CA, 95811. (Must be postmarked by December 31)
Step 2: Collect
Collect as many CRV beverage containers as you can from November 15, 2012 to March 15, 2013. Collect aluminum and plastic CRV beverage containers from home, school, your neighbors, or even have your class organize a recycling drive for your entire school!
All aluminum and plastic beverage containers marked CRV "California Redemption Value, California Cash Refund, or California Refund Value" are eligible for the purposes of this contest. Glass containers that can be recycled are not included in the challenge.
Step 3: Recycle
Ask a parent or teacher to take your CRV beverage containers to your local recycling center. Track the amount you recycle by:
1. Making copies of the receipts the recycling center gives to you and tracking them on the official Recycle Rex Recycle Challenge Data Entry Form(s) OR
2. Asking the recycling center attendant to sign the form, if they do not provide a receipt. Just be sure to bring the Challenge Entry Form with you each time you visit the recycling center.
Step 4: Report
Send me your completed and totaled official Recycle Rex Recycle Challenge Entry Form(s) by March 30, 2013. Winners will be announced on Earth Day (April 22, 2013) on my website. The winners will receive prizes from Keep California Beautiful!
